Working across the UK and Spain

A house in Spain managed from the UK, or the reverse, is a coordination problem before it is a design one. Drawings have to be read by a contractor working in another language and to different conventions; samples and long-lead furniture have to arrive scheduled against a build happening somewhere else; and decisions that would take a ten-minute site visit at home take a flight.

Nara is set up for exactly that. Nerea works in English and Spanish, so briefing, drawings, specification and coordination with contractors, makers and suppliers happen directly in either country rather than through an intermediary.

Design development, material decisions and specification are handled remotely where required, with site visits at the points in the programme that genuinely need them — and the balance between the two is agreed as part of the scope, in writing, before design work begins.
