Cotswolds House

Cotswolds, United Kingdom
Independent design study
Concept study — not built

Cotswolds House occupies a historic stone building where the interior is treated as a quiet counterpoint to the architecture rather than a continuation of it.

Original stone, mullioned windows and dark timber boards are left to carry the character of the house. Against them the scheme stays deliberately restrained — pale plaster, linen, wool and a small number of dark timber and leather pieces.

Rooms are kept sparse so that the light, the stone and the floor do most of the work, and the few objects that remain are given room to be seen.
