Chelsea London

London, United Kingdom
Independent design study
Concept study — not built

Chelsea London is a study in a classical London house, where the existing architecture is kept intact and given room to be read.

Deep cornicing, fluted pilasters, tall sash windows and a chequerboard marble floor carry the character of the rooms. Against them the furniture is deliberately of today — soft bouclé forms, sculptural lamps and low dark timber pieces — so the interior feels calm and current rather than period.

A restrained palette of marble, lime plaster, walnut and oxblood runs from the entrance hall through the drawing room, kitchen and bedroom, holding the sequence of rooms together.
